    Something new I had learned from this reading is "formal" photography. I had always known what it was, but had only ever thought of it as analytical or technical photography, I never knew it had a name. An example of this would be "Moon and Half Dome" by Ansel Adams. This image is technically extremely well developed and composed, but conceptually fairly straightforward. His work emphasizes the earth's natural beauty through his mastery in capturing images.
